Delphin® History
Bernd Reddig invented the Delphin knife 35 years ago. Reddig was a flooring installer and owned an interior design firm in Drebber, Germany. He was looking for a better knife than existed at the time. Because it did not exist, he invented it. Reddig GmbH has produced the original Delphin knife and other models in Drebber since.
Delphin® Original
The striking knife shape, with the design lines of a dolphin, became the name and symbol of the company. The knife is one of the most copied tools in history, but we sell the original, which Reddig still makes in Germany.
At the time of the Delphin invention, most utility knives used rough molded surfaces in their metal or polymer construction for a friction fit in the hand. The Delphin, by contrast, has a smooth finish with the "tail" of the dolphin securing the knife while cutting. The Delphin was a breakthrough then and remains a trades must-have today.
Delphin®-03
The Delphin is among the most popular universal knives for cutting packing materials (cardboard, plastic wrap, tape, and plastic banding), carpets, PVC coverings, roofing felt, bitumen sheeting, insulation materials, styrofoam, etc. Quick blade changes are thanks to a long-proven screw closure system. The internal compartment stores up to ten spare blades. Safe carry and retrieval are possible with the supplied polymer quiver. The shape of the Delphin-03 is a trademark of the company Reddig GmbH.
