Tyto® History
Minnesota outdoorsman Luke Johnson is the founder, owner, and operator of Tyto Knives. Luke is a family man with a lifelong passion for the endless woods and big-water lakes of his home state. Luke developed a taste for Western hunting with his father as a teenager, and this style has been his love since.
After observing the precision work of a taxidermist in 2014, Luke developed his first ultra-light replacement blade knife. Taxidermists use surgical, post-mortem, and histopathology scalpel blades for their work, and his design applied the same idea to a scalpel handle ideal for rugged field use. Luke taught himself Computer Aided Design (CAD), and Tyto Knives was born.
